The data strategy for this app spans the entire data spectrum: engineering, data modeling, data science, analytics, reporting, customer selections, data visualisation, architecting use cases with other teams, data governance and commercial data strategy.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled storyteller with excellent written skills, highly organised, creative, and proactive, with a proven ability to coordinate activity across teams.

The role’s primary focus is to be responsible for key data operations, using tools similar to Looker\ Quicksight\ Qlik\ Tableau and Snowflake data warehouse to:

  • Fulfil operational and strategic reporting & data visualistion needs across the organisation.
  • Create and manage the logic in the singular, semantic reporting layer so definitions of KPIs are applied consistently.
  • Fulfil the operational data needs for customer marketing and service messaging.
  • Validate strategic business hypotheses by transforming data as required
  • Understand how to analyse and create actionable recommendations from mobile app customer journey data; eg drop-off rates in on-boarding journeys.
  • Construct and execute hypothesis tests using the data on our analytical environment in Python, SQL and third party dashboards.
  • Understand, at a high level, the business objective and have this drive the work.
  • Create an elegant, polished data visualisation, suitable for the executive level.
  • Craft the compelling written and spoken narrative to drive action: “Make them think what we think”.
  • Experience\familiarity working with data engineering teams and ETL.
Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong experience in hands-on environment requiring data manipulation to create functional and elegant-looking metrics using tools such as Looker, Quicksight, Tableau, Qliksense, PowerBI etc.
  • Be highly skilled in transforming and interrogating data with languages like python\SQL.
  • Understand how to join data across multiple databases.
  • Define business logic for KPIs from a brief and maintain them in a semantic reporting layer.
  • Be able to work to a deadline in an environment practicing Agile ways of working, including dev vs prod environments.
  • Have attention to detail with a strong respect for process and quality assurance.
  • Passionate about data visualisation and data-driven narratives

Desirable but not essential:

  • Be familiar with targeted marketing and growth team operations.
  • Experience working in companies with a large focus on mobile apps.
  • Be effective in narrating the analytical output to stake holders; draw agreement on business actions and / or formulate questions next iterative analysis.
  • Develop strong working relationships across both Data and teams such as: Growth, Pricing, Product, Risk, CS&Ops, Tech.
  • Participate in discussions to drive experimentation.
  • Statistics and modelling skills relating to optimisation or forecasting such as operations research, regressions, business models.
  • Understanding of either when to apply machine learning, or how to train basic machine learning models.
